Frequently Asked Questions
What coins can AIPro Grade evaluate?
AIPro Grade supports all US and Canadian coins including Lincoln cents, wheat pennies, Indian Head cents, Jefferson nickels, Buffalo nickels, Roosevelt dimes, Mercury dimes, Washington quarters, Standing Liberty quarters, Kennedy half dollars, Walking Liberty half dollars, Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, Canadian Maple Leafs, and all modern commemorative coins across all eras.
How accurate is AI coin grading compared to PCGS or NGC?
Our 3-stage grading pipeline uses multiple AI models to provide professional-scale grades comparable to what a numismatist would assign. While no AI system replaces certified third-party grading services like PCGS or NGC for authentication, AIPro Grade provides reliable grade estimates that help collectors assess their coins before deciding to submit for professional encapsulation.
What is the difference between Basic and Pro grades?
Basic grades use 1-2 photos (obverse and reverse) for a quick assessment. Pro grades use 6 photos from different angles — obverse flat, obverse right tilt, obverse left tilt, reverse flat, reverse right tilt, and reverse left tilt — for a comprehensive multi-angle analysis with higher accuracy on surface marks, luster, and strike quality.
How do I grade a coin at home without sending it away?
With AIPro Grade, you simply open the app on your phone, snap a photo of your coin, and receive a professional-scale grade in seconds. There's no need to mail your coin anywhere, no waiting weeks for results, and no risk of damage during shipping. Grade your entire collection from home.
What is copper color designation (RD, RB, BN)?
Copper color designation is used for grading copper and bronze coins like Lincoln cents and Indian Head cents. RD (Red) means 95% or more of the original bright red mint luster remains. RB (Red-Brown) means between 5-95% original red luster. BN (Brown) means less than 5% original red color remains. Color designation significantly affects a copper coin's value — an MS-65 RD Lincoln cent can be worth many times more than the same grade in BN.
Can AIPro Grade detect error coins and varieties?
Yes. AIPro Grade identifies doubled dies (like the valuable 1955 doubled die Lincoln cent), re-punched mint marks (RPMs), off-center strikes, die cracks, die cuds, lamination errors, clipped planchets, and other mint errors and die varieties that can significantly increase a coin's value.
What is my coin worth?
AIPro Grade provides real-time market value estimates based on your coin's identified type, date, mint mark, grade, and any errors or varieties detected. Values are estimated based on current market conditions and recent sales data for comparable coins.
